The $2.3 Billion Cheaper Home Batteries Program

The Australian government will offer a 30% discount on qualified small-scale battery systems for households and small enterprises, based on usable capacity and phased out by 2030. This helps to store clean solar energy for later use while also lowering total energy costs by reducing dependency on gas generation and grid infrastructure. Discounts are available at the point of sale from participating solar/battery shops under the Clean Energy Regulator's Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES), which has been modified to incorporate batteries.
